Liège – also called Liege – is the capital of the province of the same name in the Walloon part of Belgium.

Sights in Liège
Liège has a lot to offer for the visitor. Fascinating is street-long staircase “Montagne de Bueren” in the middle of an old housing estate.
As a Catholic episcopal city, Liège boasts some beautiful old churches and a cathedral, such as Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Denis, the prince-bishop’s palace, Saint-Paul Cathedral.
The city is also home to some very interesting museums, including the 17th-century Curtius House, the Museum at the Cathedral, and many more. From the 18th century, there are still some very nice state buildings to admire in Liège.
Exciting and entertaining is the Marché de la Batte, which takes place once a week on Saturday – the kilometre-long flea market on the Maas Quays; also a visit to the aquarium should not be missed. Of course, excursions into the Belgian countryside around Liège are also worthwhile, where you can get to know the country and its people in the small villages.
